City Life, with a bit of Over-60 Style

Just quickly, because apparently we have only one more day of these gorgeously crisp blue skies, November temps hovering nicely at freezing after teasing us with a sprinkle of snowflakes Saturday (and look at the mountains already accumulating snowpack over on the North Shore, behind the Cirque du Soleil tent). Tomorrow comes the rain, again, and then I'll be happy enough to stay home and write. For today, I want to be out and about again. . . .
So all I have for you this Monday morning are some photos and a quick What We Did report from the weekend -- have you ever seen a Cirque du Soleil show? I'm not sure why we never thought it would be our thing, but that well-dressed fellow above, snapped from behind in Sunday's sunshine, surprised me with tix to Kurios, and it's definitely all that. You should go!

And tit for tat, I suppose . . . when he realized I'd taken a snap of him, he decided he'd better return the favour. I always demur, but I have to admit I rather like these shots. Especially interesting to see how my hair colour appears to change depending on what side the light's hitting -- it's really greying up quickly now, and I'm liking the colour, the curl, the length.
Blundstones, M0851 bag, Vince jeans, new black (Fleurette, 50% off!!) coat, and pink cashmere (Club Monaco) scarf I've had for years. Warmed up enough in the sunshine that I've tucked my leopard-trimmed, black leather gloves in my pocket, so you can't see them. I love having Paul's photo-taking shadow in this hot. . .

That's all for now, although you might catch me posting more on Instagram (which is where I posted a few shots of the #MeToo rally we saw my sister speak at on Saturday morning). What are you up to as the week begins?

    1. Well, if you have to be jet-lagged, doing so fireside with a martini in hand is probably the best way to go! Settle in . . . .

    1. I'm craving some Scotland myself (and some London and Yorkshire and possibly some Wales thrown in -- one of these upcoming trips, reasonably soon, I hope). Trossachs, I don't know that word so off to Google. Enjoy your road trip!

  3. Just chillin' here in Ottawa. Happy to have a day with a little bit of sunshine and no rain today.
I'm off to lunch today with ten or twelve of my old colleagues... er... I mean former. From the school I taught at from 1989 to 1999. Then later this week, an annual pot-luck party with the ladies with whom I taught when I was first getting into the game. Way back in 1985! Love seeing this gang, most of whom still think of me as a young thing, since I was in my twenties when we worked together, and they were all in their thirties and forties. And later this month having a girls' night with some of my buddies who used to be in my department at my last school, most of whom are far younger than me. Guess you might say that November is the month for reaffirming friendships. Old and young!

    1. May I be a bit envious -- to have that large a crew of former colleagues, especially ones who think of you as the young'un. . .
Good to claim November for friendships, because otherwise there's a bit of a temptation in our climes to think of it as a rather glum month. . .

  4. I've never been to Cirque either. I've always considered it like a Las Vegas show. It's beautiful today and I had a lovely walk. What snow we now have on the mountains!Your new coat is lovely.

    1. That sounds very similar to our assumptions, prejudices, about the show, but in fact, if that's what Las Vegas shows are like, perhaps we should get there as well (mmmm, not really!).
Isn't the snow glorious on those North Shore mountains? As long as it stays there...

  5. We saw Kurios last summer - I expressed interest in going, husband agreed (to amuse me I suspect) and then daughter in law wanted to go, son agreed (seeing a pattern?). ANYWAY all 4 of us loved every moment.....my husband actually looked in to getting tickets for a second evening, but all were sold out by then. We are converts...always check to see if the Cirque is in any city we are visiting. No luck so far, but hopeful. And perhaps they will be back here next summer again, I suspect its an alternate year thing here.

    Lovely snow pics!

    1. It's a good show to get started on, for sure! We have Cirque du Soleil tents up a fifteen-minute walk from home an average of twice a year, it seems, and for weeks at a time. Not sure we'll go every time, as the tix are a bit pricey, but we'll definitely go more often. . .

  8. I am reading this in...essentially the same outfit- must be the Urban Outing Uniform, Canadian version. Did you hear that here (in the Cirque's home city) we just elected a woman mayor?

    1. I did hear that! From where I'm reading, it sounds like good news!

I'd love to hear your response to my post. Agree, disagree, even go off on a tangent, I love to know you're out there, readers. Let's chat, shall we? I apologize, though, for the temporary necessity of the Word Verification -- spam comments have been tiresomely numerous lately, and I'm hoping to break that pattern.
