Un après-midi, au jardin. . .

Just one small red Japanese maple
 and some late afternoon sunlight.
 And warmth
and birdsong (which you, sadly, can't hear in these photos even if I can remember it clearly)
and the honeyed fragrance of the arbutus flowers just above, to the left, out of the frame. . .
Exquisite shifting of reds, dark to light, orange to burgundy . . .

That's all I have for you today. . .

  1. Sigh. That's all I've got.

  2. *sigh*
Honeyed air - that just about sums up the entire South Island. It's intoxicating. So glad that I'm not the only one taking it all in!

  4. Who needs more that the warmth of a red maple in the sun and the song of a bird in the air. Have a great weekend!

  5. Exquisite. One of my favourite words.

I'd love to hear your response to my post. Agree, disagree, even go off on a tangent, I love to know you're out there, readers. Let's chat, shall we? I apologize, though, for the temporary necessity of the Word Verification -- spam comments have been tiresomely numerous lately, and I'm hoping to break that pattern.
