Working Nana Wishes . . . .Happy Birthday, Harriet!

Besides being more than disgruntled by the sure prospect of a root canal in my very near future, I'm a bit grumpy that working for a living trumps my desire to join the celebration over at my daughter's, in Vancouver. Harriet is one today! And I'd so love to crowd into M&R's home with the family and friends who will be celebrating there this afternoon.

In fact, this is one of the biggest pulls toward retirement, and I may someday write a post about the conflicting tugs. For now, I remind myself that I'm very lucky in the amount of time I spend with my little ones and that my work is still really important to my identity. The young families have their own busy lives, and I would be very wary of centering my own around those.

Instead, for now, I juggle -- I'm pretty decent at this act by now!

And I send out Birthday wishes and blow fairy kisses across the water to this little girl
Both cameraphone photos recently supplied by Harriet's mom as part of the Make Nana Smile texting campaign, an extremely worthwhile local initiatve.

And I remember her birth, just a year ago, and marvel at how much has changed in that short time -- a miracle I've seen so often over the decades, one which never gets stale. . .

Happy Birthday, Harriet -- Nana will see you soon!

  4. Eeek -so cute! And I can see the tug to retire - than for more reasons that it means, um, retirement. Apparently this year has gone by in the blink of an eye.

    1. The confusion is that there are also tugs NOT to retire . . . but yes, isn't she cute? (says her biased Nana)

I'd love to hear your response to my post. Agree, disagree, even go off on a tangent, I love to know you're out there, readers. Let's chat, shall we? I apologize, though, for the temporary necessity of the Word Verification -- spam comments have been tiresomely numerous lately, and I'm hoping to break that pattern.
