sunshine, family, and music -- it's a trifecta!

Such a busy weekend -- after spending much of Saturday with Pseu and family, Sunday was dedicated to mine. We had already planned on attending a big multi-birthday/graduation/visiting sis celebration at the home of one of my sisters (believe me, mine are legion!), and then late Saturday evening we learned that my baby sis was in the hospital after an emergency hysterectomy. So Sunday morning we made a run out to the hospital and visited, then went back home for an hour or two before picking up Nola and her chaperones to head out to Leona's where one of my other daughters and her guy joined us later -- Between my brother, sisters, their partners and their kids -- some of whom have formed a rather decent band which entertained us for 20-30 minutes-- along with a few neighbours (hint: you've got a band playing in your back yard, invite the neighbours!), we were quite a crowd.

Here's the band, The Knots with my nephew Jonny on the left, my nephew Jeff at the mike, his brother Sean drumming away unseen just behind, and their friend David on the right.

And here's evidence of their talent in the attentive faces of their audience:

Can you guess who's the proud mama? (That'd be my sister Leona, second from right -- my brother Miles is to her right, my sister Hilary on the far left, and daughter Meg with her guy Rob in the centre).

But most enthusiastic of all?

Nola's clearly destined to be a talent scout for her music-producing, sound-engineering old man. (And she's obviously got over making strange at Pater!)

  1. Goodbye Paula Abdul and hello Nola! You do get American Idol in Canada, don't you? ;-)

  2. Sounds like a lovely day, and there's nothing much that's better than a family/backyard/music fest.
Nola appears to be having quite a grand time!

  3. Hey! very nice Blog.
    Greetings from Argentina.
    I'll keep in touch.

  4. Delightful! I am happy to hear your sister is recovering, that must be scary.

  5. LBR: Yes, we do! and here comes Nola!
Pseu: It really was fun and I was very proud of my nephews.
    Dedos: Welcome!
Duchesse: It really was frightening for me -- I'm so glad she's on the mend, but she's a hard person to keep on bedrest!

  6. That photo of Nola is hilarious! It really brightened up my day, I must say.

  7. Tiffany: Doesn't she look enthusiastic?!

  8. What a marvelous photo of Nola all excited. Her joy is contagious.

I am happy that your sister is doing better. Sending good thoughts, how frightening that must have been.

  9. Mardel: Thanks -- I was glad that by the time I heard about it, the worst was over. She's doing quite well now, although keeping her off her feet is proving impossible.

I'd love to hear your response to my post. Agree, disagree, even go off on a tangent, I love to know you're out there, readers. Let's chat, shall we? I apologize, though, for the temporary necessity of the Word Verification -- spam comments have been tiresomely numerous lately, and I'm hoping to break that pattern.
